Womens

DE'7....DE Champions !!!

So it’s all down to De’7 and City Girlz. City Girlz came into the game lacking of players, with no substitute where as De’7 also came to the game short on players with only one substitute. It took a while for the first goal to go in as City Girlz played some excellent defending, clearing everything that came to them. The first goal fell to Ester after some neat dribbling and a neat finish into the bottom corner. She added a second soon after, a goal almost similar to her first making it 2-0. Abby made it game set match to De’7 with a goal of her own to make it 3-0. Tim then added the icing on the cake in what was an excellent tournament for them with the fourth goal.

Mens

MARVELLOUS MACHANZ  !!!

Pappadam A and Machanz. Two strongholds of this semester’s tournament came into the game with an eye on the prize. End to end stuff for both teams. Neither teams can be said to be the dominant one but however one of the sides had to come out on top eventually. Machanz took the lead in the first half with goal number 16 for Raj providing that channel. That held on till the second half when Raj’s 17th of the tournament made it look good for Machanz who now had one hand on the prize. However Pappadam received a glimmer of hope when Danesh put the ball past his own keeper after a corner kick which came his way ricochet of his leg and into the back of the net. 2-1 it was and 2-1 is how it ended.

SEMI FINALS Review

So now we are just down to 4 men’s team and 4 women’s team and all 8 teams playing with one mindset; get to the finals !!!

Game 1 (Women’s) - De’7 FC vs. X-it

How they got here:
De’7 FC
X-it
1st in Group E
Win 3
Scored: Conceded=11:0
 Jessica (5 Goals)
2nd in Group F
Draw 1, Loss 1
Scored: Conceded= 2:5
Top Scorer: Zimah (1 Goal)

Well not much we can say about this game as X-it called a walk over due to some reasons. So we have it, De’7 progress into the final.

Game 2 (Men’s)- Machanz vs. Altec FC
So before we get into detail of what happened during this game, let’s refresh on the quarter final games both teams had. Machanz overcame a determined Paindu Utd 6-3 after extra time where as Altec came out 3-2 winners over Team Ringgo. So now both teams came up against each other looking to get the first seat of two in the finals. First up came Raj’s 14th goal of the tournament with a neat finish at the bottom right corner. However M.J of Altec replied with a goal of his own after his shot from the middle line took a slight deflection and ended up behind the Machanz goalkeeper. Danesh restored Machanz lead soon after as he saw his powerful shot hit the back of the net and it was 2-1 Machanz. Second half came and a second goal for Mr. Raj, 3-1 Machanz. It was late and it was looking good for the Machanz boys. Lingesh added the icing on the cake late on and Machanz move pass Altec with a sounding 4-1 victory and a spot in the finals. What next for them? Pappadam  A or De’7 FC?
Game 3 (Womens) - City Girlz vs. Emergency
How they got here:
City Girlz
Emergency
·         1st in Group F
·         Win 2
·         Scored: Conceded= 8:1
·         Top Scorer: Sumiyathi ( 3  Goals)
·         2nd in Group E
·         Win 2, Loss 1
·         Scored: Conceded= 4:6
·         Top Scorer: Jaqlynne (2 Goals)

So it was all in all an end to end game with both sides attacking and defending, going at each other with all they have as De’7 wait for the winner to play against in the finals. After the first 7 minutes of play, 0-0 was one the score sheet as both teams cancelled each other out with some good defending by both teams. Up came Rachel, a new addition to the City Girlz squad, twisting and turning her way around the Emergency defence. She grabbed the first goal of the game after taking the ball down the left wing and firing a shot, squeezing it into the goal. Just as everyone thought it was game set match to City Girlz, Jaqlynne does what she does best, scoring. That goal gave her her 4th goal of the tournament while getting the equaliser. Fulltime score was 1-1 and it went into extra time. With the extra 6 minutes of play, 2 goals went in but not both for one team. Rachel again scored for City Girlz to put them up at the half, but as she did in normal time, Jaqlynne netted the equaliser to make it 2-2. Then came penalties with both teams and here’s how it went
City Girls
Emergency
·         Nisha
o   Rachel
o   Maneesha
o   Shal
o   Chrissy
o   Jaqlynne

FINAL RESULT -CITY GIRLZ WIN 1-0 ON PENALTIES

Game 4 (Mens) De’7 FC vs. Pappadam A
So the way the both teams got pass the quarter finals were totally difference. De’7 came through comfortably with a 6-0 win over LFU B where as Pappadam A came through a tough 14 minutes of play with a 3-2 victory over Putranz. If I were to choose one word to describe this match, it would be Physical. Right from the start, Mmediong gave De’7 a dream start after smashing the ball through the Pappadam wall at the first kick of the game. Scoreline: 1-0 to De’7. Playing with much anticipation, Pappadam played their game however received a warning with the way tempers were raising. Thiagu got the first caution of the game before Steve got in the books as well. It wasn’t till the second half that another goal came and this time it was an equaliser for Pappadam. Thiagu slotted a lovely pass down the right wing to Barath who turned and took a first time shot which went past the goalkeeper. Scoreline: 1-1. Latter stages of the game came for the players on the court and tensions raised as both teams kept the battle going till the very end. Then came a corner kick for Pappadam A. Barath with the kick from the side placed the ball into the middle. The ball cannoned of a De’7 defender but fell to an unmarked Thiagu who slotted home with ease. Scoreline: 2-1 to Pappadam. Not long after the goal, the final whistle went and the Pappadam supporters roared to the success. They meet Machanz in the final and GAME ON.

Men’s Quarterfinals Review

|

So now we move on to the final 8 teams. The two best teams from each group advancing and now face a tougher challenge. Whether they will be able to prevail or not, that is up to them. It’s now or never.  A place in the semi-finals is at stake for each of the 8 teams.

GAME 1- Altec FC vs Team Ringgo

Altec FC
Team Ringgo

·         1st in Group A
·         Win 3

·         Top Scorer: Zulhilmi (2 Goals)

Hard to say which team was the better of the other as it was an even contest. The game started brightly for Altec, whom won the opening toss. M.J received a pass from the middle line and took a first time hit direct at goal which gave Altec a dream start to the game.  Jun Ho doubled the lead for Altec but it Team Ringgo replied a goal of their own from Saleem. It was game on again as Saleem’s strike proved to be a glimmer of hope for Team Ringgo. However M.J’s second proved to be the killer goal although Saleem did add another. The game ended with Altec progressing into the semi’s after securing a 3-2 victory.

Game 2- De’7FC vs LFU B

In what can be said to be a one sided affair, De’7 made their intentions clear with a thrilling 6-0 victory over LFU B. 5-0 it was in the first half. Two goals from Mmediong, one for Steve and two for Jorden had De’7 put one foot into the semis. Jorden then grabbed his hat-trick in the latter stages of the game. They now await the winners of the contest between Pappadam A and Putranz.

Game 3- Machanz vs Paindu Utd

Team stats coming into the game;
Machanz

·         Top Scorer: Taha (9 Goals)

Calling this the match of the day wouldn’t be an overstatement. A normal futsal match goes on for 14 minutes. This match went on for 20. The score line read 3-3 after full-time and 6 minutes of extra time was added on; 3 per half. 6-3 was the final score with Machanz progressing to the semis. Taha opened the scoring with a neatly placed header after getting behind the Machanz defender. Raj and Danesh both poached in 1 each to give Machanz a 2-1 lead at the half. Raj grabbed his second goal early in the 2nd half but then came the waves of Paindu attack which led to the 2nd and equalising goal for Paindu. A header from Ibrahim and a placed shot by Taha gave Paindu the perfect come back. Into extra time and it was down to the wire and it’s all about fitness and determination. Machanz came out on top in extra time with 3 goals coming from Lingesh and Raj (2), netting his 3rd and 4th of the game.

Game 4- Pappadam A vs Putranz

·         2nd in Group C

·         Scored: Conceded= 4:8
·         Top Scorer: Azam (2 Goals)

De’7 awaits for the winner of this contest and the spot in the semi final and a date with the De’7 boys went to Pappadam A. So the game went on like this: Azam opened the scoring for Putranz after applying good pressure onto Pappadam defender Aaran and goalkeeper Jeya causing an open goal for him to stick the ball into. An own goal for Priyan drew things level after a corner kick hit Priyan and went into his own net. Barath gave Pappadam their first lead of the game with a well placed shot into the bottom corner. Nara then drew things level with a lovely volley which hit the top corner. However, a goal from Dinesh proved to be the final and deciding goal of the game. It ended, 3-2.
