WOMENS’ FINALS – Dealbreakers vs Whack Only
MENS FINALS – Machanz vs HQ
Let’s see how the last day fared for all 6 teams.

3rd / 4th placing matchup:
The surprise of the tournament, Pappadam Alpha looked to further surprise everyone by clinching 3rd place in the tournament. However TehTarikPeng would prove to be no pushover as they looked to bounce back from a heavy defeat to Machanz the day before. Long into the game and we were still at a stalemate as both teams we’re toe to toe looking to notch a single goal to clinch the game and bragging rights to carry into the next tournament. On and on they fought but it was TehTarikPeng whom notched the victory. Kelvin yet again proved to be the catalyst as a neat finish cleanly beating Pappadam keeper Hafeel to the disappointment of the whole team. TehTarikPeng held on to the lead and took home bronze with a 1-0 victory.
3rd PLACE - TEH TARIK PENG!

Women’s Finals matchup:

2 games have been played between these two teams before this day and both were hard battles to the end. But however with the gold on the line, Dealbreakers made sure that they remained the dominant team overall winning this one 4-1. Fizah netted a brace while Jacqueline and Jessica netted one each. Esther scored the sole goal for Whack Only.

The game got off to a quick start as Danny latched onto a corner taken by Lingesh and powered home the opening goal for Machanz. Raj then doubled the lead for Machanz as they went into half time holding a 2-0 advantage. In the second half, HQ came charging. BATTLE TO THE TOP!

MENS SEMIFINALS

HQ VS PAPPADAM ALPHA:
The surprising team of the tournament, Pappadam Alpha, came up against HQ in this semi-final tie whom had their confidence high looking to notch a spot in the final. It was an end-to-end game as shot after shot let flew main by Mmediong of HQ while Vijay and Sheeren tested HQ’s goalkeeper Sodiq a couple of times however Sodiq kept steady and so did Hafeel of Pappadam Alpha. 0-0 was how the half ended with both sides matching up on almost all parts of the court with Krishnan and Navdeep defending well for Pappadam. In the second half however things looked as though it would go into extra time only until Mmediong netted what was the winner. Late in the second, Mmediong received a pass from the right. With two defenders ahead of him Mmediong let loose of a shot which squeezed through the legs of both defenders before beating keeper Hafeel in the same manner. 1-0 HQ.Pappadam threatened to equalise in the closing moments with Vijay hitting a volley from the right which floated only inches away from the top corner. HQ held on to their precious lead and booked a place in the Final awaiting the winners of MachanzvsTehTarikPeng.
FINAL SCORE: HQ 1 – 0 PAPPADAM ALPHA.

MACHANZ VS TEH TARIK PENG:

However, TehTarikPeng wasn’t looking to just give Machanz the victory; they want this more than ever and put on a brave fight. Playing high up, TehTarikPeng were hit on the counter as Machanz capitalised on a 2 on 1 situation in defence which allowed Lingesh to place a shot on the bottom right hand corner of TehTarikPeng’s goalkeeper. Things changed in the second half however as TehTarik looked to equalise and almost did as Machanz almost conceded the way they scored. On the attack, Machanz left defender Danesh alone in defence which allowed TehTarikPeng to have a 1 on 1 opportunity but Hasnat of Machanz superbly turned the shot of with his feet. Unable to find the equaliser, Machanz punished TehTarikPeng with a second and final goal of the game with Lingesh showing some clinical finishing with a half volley.

GROUP A

Putranz vs Sumbat FC:
Putranz came into today’s round of matches holding the 4th spot in group A but only due to goal difference, knowing that a win against a strong Sumbat FC squad could see them book a spot in the quarter finals next week. However it wasn’t their day as Sumbat FC ran out 4-1 winners over Putranz. Barath added to his tally this season with 2 goals today including one perfectly placed volley which struck the top corner of the helpless Putranz keeper Kevin’s post. Nantha and Ragu grabbed one a piece. Azam netted the consolation goal for Putranz.

Milo Taboq vs Ayam FC:
In what was a highly entertaining game in which both teams were battling it out for a spot in the quarter finals, Milo Taboq prevailed as the better side, knocking Ayam FC off their feet cruising to a 3-1 win. The deadly duo of Farouq and Amirul again did the damage with Farouq netting one while Amirul got 2 to his tally. Lawal netted a consolation goal for Ayam FC late on.

GROUP B

Machanz vs The Cant’s:
Holding onto the best offensive and best defensive record thus far in the tournament, Machanz looked to wrap up solid first week of the tournament, taking on The Cant’s. The away team came into this game holding onto the precious second and final qualifying place in the group hoping to avoid a big margin defeat and hope luck is on their side in the other match up from this group. However faith was not on their side as Machanz yet again prevailed with a big margin victory, running out 6-1 victors. Raj of Machanz made it 11 goals in 3 games with his 4 goals today whilst Danny and an own goal from Venket of The Cant’s sealed it. Venket however did grab the sole goal for his side.

Pappadam Alpha vs Panther:
It was do or die for both teams. For Panther however only needed a draw whilst Pappadam Alpha had a mind-set of win and proceed whilst lose and go home. Mind games did the trick for Pappadam Alpha today.  A stellar defensive performance by Krishnan and some neat touches up front gave them a 2-0 victory. A first and foremost most important victory they clinched thus far. Vijay kicked things off after heading in a throw by keeper Hafeel. Surin put the icing on the cake with a neat finish. Pappadam Alpha clinches a spot in the quarter finals.

GROUP C

Machanz 2.0 vs HQ:
A highly entertaining yet physical game was played out between these two squads. Machanz 2.0 whom were without Thiagu in this game after being red carded, needed a big victory to ensure a spot in the quarter finals. They saw that fading after Mmediong gave HQ the lead first. Sathia gave Machanz 2.0 a glimmer of hope after netting the equaliser. With time still left on the clock, both teams pushed for the victory. Vejay, keeper of Machanz 2.0, arguably the hero of the game for the team pulling of some spectacular saves to keep Machanz 2.0 in the game. However things ended for them as the referee blew the whistle to end the game at 1-1.

Teh Tarik Peng vs Drunken Dragons:
Knowing of the slip up of Machanz 2.0 in the earlier game, TehTarikPeng knew that a win would take them through to the next round and they did just that. Zubair kicked things off for TehTarikPeng after catching Drunken Dragons on the counter. Jiva netted one for himself while Kelvin rounded things of with 2 goals. Game ended 4-0 to Teh Tarik Peng.

GROUP D

Johnie Walker vs Pappadam Omega:
Tale of two different wants at the beginning of this game. Johnie Walker looking to make it 3 out of 3 while Pappadam Omega looked to avoid defeat to safely progress without having to worry about the latter games. Johnie Walker came out of this one getting what they came in looking for, making it 3 out of 3 with a 5-2 victory. A brace from Rifaz, and a goal a-piece from Valentine, Amate and Wiwin put them 5 to the good. A double own goal from goalkeeper Minusha gave Pappadam the precious 2 goals.

LFU vs Wanted:
A big win for Wanted means Quarterfinals while LFU played for pride. Wanted got exactly what they wanted which was a W with a 2-0 victory. Eugene and Bryan netted for them but will that be enough to take them through to the quarterfinals?

GROUP G

Just for Laughs vs X-IT:
In the first match of the day for the girls, Just for laughs and X-IT settled for a 1-1 draw at the end of the 14 minutes. An own goal from Cynthia of X-IT put Just for Laughs up just for Mea of Just for Laughs to make it even.
