CiTY Futsal Season X - Day 1 Updates

GROUP A

Milo Taboq vs Putranz:
The game started with what was quite a physical game, where the passing and speed of Milo Taboq, was not effective in the early stages. They however had numerous shots on goal, the score at the end of the first half was only 1-0  to Milo Taboq with Farouq scoring. In the second half, Milo Taboq’s speed and superb shooting ensured that they won by a score of 4-0, with 2 goals from Amirul, and Farouq adding another one for himself.

Sumbat FC vs Ayam FC:
Sumbat FC, which is a renamed version of last semester’s Chicanoz FC took on Ayam FC, who are made up of players from a wide range of past teams. As the chemistry between the teams were only starting to match up, the match was finally won by Ayam FC, when Ringo scored for them.

GROUP B

Machanz vs Panther:
Machanz, who are the oldest surviving team in the tournament, proved that they are not obsolete by opening their account for this semester with a whooping 9 – 1 win over new boys Panthers. Raj scored 5 goals, while Lingesh added 2 goals of his own. Danesh scored 1 goal, while Danny scored 1 goal on his Machanz debut. Aaikal managed to add himself to the scorer’s list with 1 goal scored.

Pappadam Alpha vs The Can’ts:
This was a close fought match, both teams played flowing futsal as each team had numerous chances to score only to be saved  by the opposing team’s defense, keeper or on certain times the post. The deadlock was finally broken by Steve for The Cants. In the enduing fight back, Navdeep from Pappadam Alpha managed to get himself yellow carded.

GROUP C

Machanz 2.0 vs Drunken Dragons:
In the opening match of what is considered the group of death of the tournament, Machanz 2.0 was expected to steam roll their way through their opposition, however as in every futsal tournament we have held, this was not the case as Machanz 2.0, had their hands full with the Drunken Dragon’s defense and their on-form keeper Vinesh, who pulled off a couple of goods saves to deny them. However 2 goals from Sathia abd another 1 by Thiagu was just too much to handle for the Drunken Dragons. Rajiv however managed to score a consolation goal for them.

The Tarik Peng vs HQ:
Last semesters runners-up played against an HQ team made of former Eagles players. The match was a heated up affair as Samuel from The Tarik Peng got a yellow card. However it turned out to be a classy match as the through balls and the slick passing from both teams ensured that there was many good goals. Mmediong scored 2 goals, while Michael Owan and Jackson gave a 5—2 win to HQ, with Kevin scoring on the other side.

GROUP D

Johnnie Walker vs Wanted:
Wanted, who are making their debut on the futsal tournament, managed to give johnnie walker an opening scare as they took the lead through Bryan’s well taken shot. However the lead was not meant to last long as Rifaz scored 4 goal in a row to break Wanted. Wiwin then added another goal to make it a 5-1 win for Johnnie Walker.

LFU vs Pappadam Omega:
Pappadam Omega went into the game with a load of confidence as they played with precision passing and good through passes. Nava scored 2 coolly taken goals as his finishing was excellent. Krishen than added another goal with a powerful top corner shot. Silan and new boy Jaivin then rounded up the game to end the game at 5-1, with Haikal rewarded for his slick gameplay.

GROUP G

Dealbreakers vs Just for laughs:
Dealbreakers, last semester’s winners, had lined up a new team, however JFL, were not afforded a slow start, as Ted of dealbreakers, managed to score straight away from the opening kick, Jessica than added 4 goals to win the game at 5-1. Nadea managed to add a consolation goal, which could be important for their league standing.

X-It vs Whack Only:
True to their name, Whack only managed to whack X-It with 4 goals all taken by Esther. The game started with Whack Only continuously working X-It’s defense and never giving them a moment of peace. The combined movements and running by Esther and Manisha, was enough to give the X-It’s keeper, Kanages, a headache. Esther also managed finesse shot that curled in right into the top right corner.
